Lahore: It was a complete contrast to the previous night’s performance by Lahore Qalandars to hand over a one-sided victory to Islamabad United here on Wednesday.
Qalandars, brought in Salman Butt and Usman Shinwari for Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Shah Afridi, could not stop the run flow and Islamabad United accumulated 198/3 in 20 overs.
Lahore’s skipper utilised seven bowlers. Mohammad Hafeez, Muhammad Faizan and Salman Irshad got a wicket each.
Islamabad openers Luke Ronchi (48 off 31) and Colin Munro (87 off 59) provided a 103-run foundation to their team which was later capitalised upon by Ingram (29 off 19) and Asif Ali (20* off 6) to post a stiff aggregate on the board.
Lahore Qalandars lost Lynn in the first over and kept on losing wickets. The brightest ray of hope, Ben Dunk perished on 25 and Samit Patel, soon, fell for just six.
Usman Shinwari’s late-order swag (30 off 14) was never enough as Lahore Qalandars crumbled at 127 to hand Islamabad United a comfortable 71 runs victory.
Left arm spinner Zafar Gohar and left arm pacer Rumman Raees led the bowling chart with three wickets apiece. Captain Shadab Khan bagged two wickets.
With seven points, Islamabad United jumped to the second spot on the table behind Multan Sultans which have eight points.
