Multan: First game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the newly laid Stadium here on Wednesday saw the home side, Multan Sultans overpowering Peshawar Zalmi after reducing them to 123 in 20 overs.
Shan Masood, the Multan skipper, invited Zalmi to bat and got the prized wicket of Kamran Akmal (15 off 9) early on. Sohail Tanvir made the early inroads and later on picked up 4 for 13. Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Ilyas bagged two wickets each and Peshawar Zalmi were bowled out for 123 with nine legitimate deliveries to go.
Young Haider Ali stood prominent with 27-ball 47 – studded with six fours and two sixes – while Dawson made 22.
In reply, four Multan batsmen went back to the dugout for 47 however Rilee Rossouw (49* off 42) and Kushdil Shah (43* off 29) steadied the ship to cruise Sultans to victory by six wickets.
Sohail Tanvir was declared man of the match.
With this triumph, Multan Sultans are now leading the table with a couple of victories in three games.
