Karachi: In the ninth round match of the ongoing first-class tournament, Quaid-e-Azam trophy, Southern Punjab beat Sindh by five wickets while the match between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ended in no result.
At the State Bank Stadium, Southern Punjab overhauled the 370-run target in 93.4 overs. imran Rafiq (130) and Salman Agha (100) stroked centuries. Zain Abbas jotted 81 runs.
For Sindh, pacer Tabish Khan claimed three wickets.
Sindh accumulated 217 runs in their first innings followed by 247 runs by Southern Punjab. In the second attempt Sindh declared the innings for 399-5.
Meanwhile, at the National Stadium the encounter between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ended in a draw. KP were chasing 305 runs however they were 65-2 in 21 overs when the match was called off.
Fakhar Zaman’s stumps were rattled by Hasan Ali on zero, Kamran Ghulam was dismissed on 14 by Mohammad Saad. Two not-out batsmen were Israrullah (31) and Adil Amin (18).
Earlier Central Punjab resumed the fourth day on 89-3 and declared the innings on 265-7 after stretching the lead to 304 runs.
Qasim Akram played a hand of 79, Mohammad Saad knitted 83 and Saad Nasim managed 54.
KP’s Sajid Khan and Khalid Usman picked a couple of wickets each.
Central Punjab scored 351 in their first innings while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa replied with 312-7 (declared).
