LAHORE: Rain was on the cards here on Friday and it came down to somewhat rescue Multan Sultans against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League encounter.
Multan, on Karachi’s invitation, batted first but failed to find footings. The first wicket (Zeeshan Ashraf) fell cheaply and the other opener Moeen Ali got dismissed at 29 to spur collapse.
Multan were in trouble at 6-64 in 12 overs when Shahid Afridi held a stand with Sohail Tanvir to push the team score beyond hundred.
Afridi was looking good with 35 off 17 when rain came down in the 17th to eventually call off play.
Multan were 102/6 in 16.5 overs.
Sohail Tanvir was on the other end with 10 off 18 deliveries.
Captain Immad Wasim and Aamer Yamin had bagged a couple of wickets by then along with one apiece by Umer Khan and Mohammad Amir.
On the points table, Multan Sultans are still at the top with nine points in sixes games, while Karachi Kings are at the fourth pedestal with seven points in six matches.
