KARACHI: After the cricket extravaganza, Pakistan Super League, the country’s hockey federation, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has also been gearing up for a league studded with international hockey stars. In this connection the Pakistan Hockey authorities are meeting with potential organisers. A source privy to the development has shared with ‘scoreline.org’ that a franchise from the Pakistan Super League was interested to hold the Hockey event and had also placed a bid for the same. “The owner of the PSL franchise, Peshawar Zalmi has offered a bid for the event and he is upbeat about it”, source said.
Meanwhile the secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Shahbaz Ahmed told the ‘scoreline.org’ that the process of receiving the bids was still underway. “We have been receiving bids from interested parties and will award the contract to the best party in due course”, Shahbaz Ahmed said
The former hockey stalwart, while dismissing the impression of shelving the project, further said that the contract, for the Pakistan Hockey League, would be granted later this month.
On a question, the PHF secretary expressed the confidence of holding the Pakistan Hockey League in Pakistan. “There will be no point in staging the national league abroad, we are confident to host the Pakistan hockey league in the country”, Shahbaz Ahmed concluded
