Lively and determined cricket organizer and owner of Quetta Gladiators franchise Nadeem Omar Saturday announced his plans to contest for the post of president for country’s biggest nursery Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA), promising revolutionary changes in the set up and to make it stand on its own feet in terms of finances and producing talent.
The long awaited KCCA elections are due on June 4.
“I did not intend to contest the elections but after noticing the abysmal condition of city’s cricket I decided to contest the elections and upon succeeding I will do my level best to put KCCA on strong footing so that it does not rely on PCB,” said Omar.
Omar urged former KCCA president Professor Ijaz Farooqi to work along with him so that the long neglected association is put on the track again.
During the ceremony officials of the KCCA zones, former secretary and president Professor Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari was also present.
Omar vowed to give KCCA a strong footing.

“Karachi cricket will not suffer injustices and our players will not suffer,” said Omar. “I want to turn zonal teams into franchises and unearth new talent. We will arrange floodlights at the KCCA stadium and make it a better ground,” said Omar.
Omar also announced to set up a museum, library and introduce a seven-zone premier tournament.
