PQA, Pakistan Currency decimate opponents

Karachi: The start, of the ninth day of the Brighto presents Osaka Naya Nazimabad Ramzan Cup 2019, was sensational as Port Qasim Authority’s fast bowlers ripped through the batting line-up of Pakistan Customs.

Batting first, after winning the coin-toss, Customs had no answer to the swing and pace of Tabish Khan and Muhammad Talha. Half the Customs’ side returned to the dugout for just 15 runs. Yasir Hussain resisted for a while however Customs could only managed 52 runs before getting bundled out in the 12th over.

Tabish Khan was the chief destroyer with 4 wickets for 20 runs, Muhammad Talha bagged 3 scalps.

After losing two wickets early, Port Qasim Authority overalled the minor target in the 7th over. Tabish Khan got the man of the match award. The match was also interrupted by dust storm for a while. With the win, Port Qasim now have 4 points along with SSGC in their group.

In the second game, Pakistan Currency started off in an spectacular fashion against Alamgir Gymkhana and scored 50 in the 3rd over. Opener Bismillah Khan was particularly severe on the opponents and raced to his 50 in just 15 deliveries. Pakistan Currency posted 200 on the board before getting out in the last over. Captain Iftikhar Ahmed and Sami Afridi stroked 41 and 39 respectively.

In reply Azam Khan turned out to be the lone warrior for the Alamgir Gymkhana as wickets continued to tumble at the other hand. In the end Nabeel Hashmi hit a few sixes but it was too late. Alamgir Gymkhana bowled out for 155. Azam Khan topped the batting chart with 58 runs, Nabeel Hashmi was prominent with 32. Bismillah Khan was declared man of the match.

With the 45-run loss, Alamgir Gymkhana ended their campaign with 3 straight defeats. Pakistan Currency, on the other hand, now have 4 points after winning two consecutive matches. They along with State Bank of Pakistan have also qualified for the quarter final round.

The other teams of Group C, Karachi Port Trust and Alamgir Gymkhana, have respectively 2 and 0 points at the end of their group matches.

In the first match today, Misbah-Ul-Haq’s Saima Builders will face Agha Estate while Omar Associates and Pakistan Airforce will come across in the following encounter.

On Sunday, KK Panthers, Pakistan Customs, NBP and K-Electric will be in action.
