Karachi: The longstanding dispute between Pakistan and India, over bilateral series, has reached the doorsteps of cricket’s governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), which will formally put things in motion next week.
“The ICC has received a Notice of Dispute from the PCB’s lawyers, which will be forwarded to the Chairman of the Dispute Resolutions Committee next week” a spokesman of the ICC told this correspondent.
The PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has already said that their case is strong as the BCCI formally agreed to play six series between 2015 and 2022.
The PCB reportedly wants BCCI to pay approximately $70 million as compensation for not playing two “mutually agreed” bilateral series between 2015 and 2017.
The next step is the formation of a three-member dispute resolution committee, by the ICC, with Michael Beloff QC in chair. Other two members of the panel will be nominated by PCB and the BCCI.
