Rawalpindi: In the high-scoring thriller, of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five here on Thursday, Quetta Gladiators overtook Islamabad United courtesy Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting, who shattered United’s hopes with a cracking 42 off 17 balls with two fours and four sixes.
Cutting came out to bat with his side in trouble on 133-5, chasing the target of 189.
Cutting dragged the game to the last over with 11 runs required. His partner Mohammad Nawaz took a run after missing the first delivery of Ammad Butt. Ben Cutting later sealed the deal with two back to back sixes. Nawaz stood unbeaten with handy 25 off 20.
Captain Sarfraz Ahmed earlier stroked 33 off 20 ball to keep his side in the hunt after losing four for 102.
Opener Jason Roy scored a half century but kept on losing support at the other end.
Ahmed Safi Abdullah and Faheem Ashraf chipped in with 2 wickets each.
Batting first, Islamabad United posted a challenging 187 courtesy Colin Ingram (63^ off 41), Shadab Khan (39 off 25) and Munro (31 off 20).
Naseem Shah was impressive with the ball for his 2 wickets against 23 runs. Mills too was decent with 2 for 34.
With this triumph, Quetta Gladiators climbed to the top of the table.
