KARACHI: This is indeed a heartening intention from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to stage the entire Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Pakistan next year.
In the recent meeting between PSL teams’ stakeholders and the PCB chairman, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi were chalked as the four cities in which the PSL5 will take place.
However, while talking to this correspondent, the chairman of the Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi hoped that Peshawar would also witness a few PSL5 games.
“I have been in touch with PCB and relevant provincial government officials for PSL5 games in Peshawar. I will do whatever it takes in this regard”, Javed Afridi stressed.
“This is my wish as well as demand that Zalmi fans should also be given the opportunity to see their team on their home ground”, Afridi added.
Afridi, who was recently confirmed for a distinguished civil decoration Hilal-e-Imtiaz, said the award boosted his zeal further to strive for the betterment of sports in the country.
“Not just cricket but from the Peshawar Zalmi platform we are trying to promote other sports too. Mixed martial arts event, in Islamabad recently, was part of that very process”, the Peshawar Zalmi chairman said.
“School league, Zalmi Madrasah league, talent hunt, Zalmi Global League and 100 pitches programme are our successful initiatives which will definitely continue”, Javed Afridi concluded.
