Karachi: The right-handed Pakistan batsman, Khalid Latif has hit the headlines after playing a swashbuckling inning of 59 runs off 42 balls in the T20 match against the host, England. The 30-year old batman, who has had a number of comebacks ever since his international debut in 2008, said that he didn’t think much about his future in the national team. “I have lost counts on the number of come backs I have had but honestly, I don’t think too much about it. I was not under pressure during the T20 game against England because I play every match as my last and try to give my hundred percent”, Khalid Latif said while talking to this correspondent.
Khalid Latif has been on the international scene for eight years however played only five one-day internationals and 10 T20I games.
The Karachi born right-hander, who has a decent first class record, further said that representing the country in the longest format is a dream of every cricketer but at the moment his focus is on the job at hand. “I don’t want to limit myself and want to contribute to the team in every format but at the moment I am not thinking about ODI or Test matches. My job is to try and make every opportunity count”, Latif added
“I have played on almost every number during my career hence I don’t think much about my batting position”, Latif opined
In 132 first class matches Khalid Latif has scored 8180 runs that includes 24 tons and 34 fifties with 254* as his highest score.
On the upcoming series against the West Indies, Khalid Latif said it would definitely be a challenge to tackle with the reigning world champions. “They are the world champions hence it will not be easy against them. We are ready for the challenge”, concluded Latif
