KARACHI: The head coach of the Pakistan ‘A’ team, toured England recently, has said that a number of young players are the find of this trip and methodical treatment could turn them into future stars. “Results are secondary on such trips where the primary objective is to provide exposure to young players.
I am satisfied with the outcome and can say that five to six players are the find of this tour. Half of the job is done with the identification of players and rest will be done through continuous monitoring and guidance”, said Basit Ali while talking to this correspondent.
“With proper guidance players like Jaahid Ali, Saud Shakeel, Shadab Khan, Mir Hamza and Azizullah have the potential to excel”, added Basit Ali
“The tour was a success over all where Pakistan ‘A’ beat Sri Lanka, Glamorgan and Yorkshire county teams while lost to England Lions, but I would reiterate that the exposure and the experience of playing in England was important for us”, said Basit Ali
The head coach said he will soon meet Mudassar Nazar, the NCA director, to present him the detailed report about the tour and players.
On the England tour the Pakistan “A” drew the unofficial Test series against Sri Lanka “A” while in the tri-series Pakistan “A” beat Sri Lanka twice “A” and lost as many matches against England Lions.
