Pak-Afghan series “is on”, says ACB

Karachi: The regime change in Afghanistan has put everything in doubt including Cricket engagements of the country with the world however the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is upbeat about the white-ball series against Pakistan, scheduled in Sri Lanka next month.

The spokesperson of the ACB, Farid Hotak, told this correspondent, that the national team had started training in Kabul and they were waiting for the flights to resume from the capital.

“The Afghan national cricket team is training in the capital Kabul to better prepare for the upcoming matches against Pakistan. They are expected to travel to Sri Lanka soon to host a three-match one-day international series against Pakistan”, Farid Hotak said.

On a question about the tentative departure of the team, the spokesman replied as soon as possible.

“The ACB is fully prepared for the tour and waiting for the flights to be resumed”, the ACB spokesperson concluded.

The Pakistan cricket team are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in September 2021 to play three One Day International matches against Afghanistan. The ODI series will form part of the inaugural 2020–23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
