The all-around brillance of Omar Associates led them to a thumping victory against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), by 52 runs, in the final of the Brighto presents Osaka Naya Nazimabad Ramzan Cup 2019.
Batting first, on SBP’s invitation, Umar Akmal and skipper Asad Shafiq provided Omar Associates a solid 101-run foundation. Umar Akmal was severe on the bowlers, scoring 55 off 37 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. Asad Shafiq was the quiet partner with the 30-ball 39. Usman Khan and Sohail Akhtar contributed with 26 and 37 respectively as Omar Associates piled up 197/5.
In reply SBP lost their opener Mukhtar Ahmed early and then Rizwan Hussain lit up the hopes with a brisk innings but he got out after a 37-run knock with 4 sixes and a four and SBP lost the plot.
Usman Qadir picked up 4, captain Asad Shafiq bagged 2 wickets as SBP ended up with 145/8.
Usman Qadir was declared man of the match, while Usman Khan (330 runs and 5 dismissal) was named the best batsman as well as the best wicket-keeper of the tournament. The best bowler award was handed over to Usman Qadir (12 wickets).
The winner, Omar Associates walked away with cash prize of Rs 1.2 million, while State Bank of Pakistan earned the cash purse of Rs 600, 000/-
Governor Sindh, Imran Ismael was the chief guest on the occasion.
