Karachi: The captain of the Pakistan women cricket team, Bismah Maroof has described self-belief as one of the major reasons for the team’s historic ODI series win against the Windies.
“We have been working hard for a long time and this time around the execution of plans was top notched which reflected in much better results”, Bismah told this correspondent.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room and the self-belief were also the contributing factors. Players responded equally well in both formats”, the captain added.
After winning the last T20i in the 3-match series in Karachi, Pakistan stunned the Windies by 2-1 in the following ODI series in Dubai.
Bismah Maroof feels that bowlers performed according to the plans however there is a lot of room for improvement in the fielding department.
Bismah Maroof paid rich tribute to Sidra Ameen, for her consistent performance in the series.
“Sidra Ameen’s performance is highly laudable. She is young but the way she took responsibility is heartening to see. Nida Dar too was brilliant in both series. All in all everyone chipped in for the cause”, Bismah said.
“We will keep on working hard with a goal to rank amongst top international teams”, Bismah added.
The skipper also lauded the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its efforts to televise and Livestream women cricket matches.
“Television and web coverage of women games created a lot of awareness amongst the general public, this is a highly commendable step from the PCB”, Bismah Maroof said.
