A Brilliant Century by former International player Shahid Anwar helped Pakistan Veterans beat Canada Veterans by 106 runs in a round 6 Match played at the Col Gooley Oval Ground in Sydney.
Pakistan Veterans has now qualified to play in the Semi Final on 3rd December. Australia is the second team to reach Semi Final.
Pakistan Veterans Captain Ghulam Ali won the toss and elected to bat. Pakistan Veterans scored 242 runs for loss of 4 wickets in 45 overs. Shahid Anwar scored 112 runs with 9 fours. In form Batsman Dastagir Butt scored 64 runs not out and former International player Sajid Ali scored 27 runs.
Mehmood Ahmed from Canada Veterans took two wickets for 42 runs and Vince Corriza and Ravi Shankar took one wicket each for 24 and 41 runs respectively.
Canada Veterans could not face the accurate bowling of Pakistan and could only score 136 runs for loss of 9 wickets at the end of 45 overs. Demal Vishan scored 33 runs with 4 fours, Rohan 25 runs and Brian Raja with 21 runs were the other batsman to score.
Right arm leg spinner Zafar Ali bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets for only 21 runs in his 9 over spell. Jaffer Qureshi and Imtiaz Tarar took two wickets for 15 and 35 runs respectively. Shahid Anwar for this brilliant century was declared Man of the Match.
In the other group match of Round 6 played yesterday Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 106 runs, England beat New Zealand by 66 runs and Australia beat Wales by 82 runs.
Pakistan Veterans has so far won all the five matches of the tournament and one match against Australia was washed out because of rain. Pakistan last Round 7 Match is on Sunday against England.
