Pakistan’s fast-rising batsman Babar Azam minced no words in his reaction to the tweet of a popular television anchor Zainab Abbas, giving her a warning not to cross the limits.
It all started with Zainab’s below the belt tweet which, apart from the meanings she meant, had implied that Babar is in the team because head coach Mickey Arthur treats him like his son.
Zainab has 1.1 million followers on her twitter account as she is a popular anchor and gets along well with the players. But some of the players also believe that she tells everything to Mickey as they are good friends.
After Babar scored his maiden hundred against New Zealand in the Dubai Test Zainab congratulated him. But the last few rods of the tweet irked Babar no end.
Zainab’s tweet read: “Well played @babarazam258 – loved how the boys went congratulating Mickey Arthur celebrating his “son’s” century #PakvNZ,”.
But the 24-year-old Pakistan batsman did not like the “son” taunt” which could also imply that he is in the team only because of that affection by Mickey.
May be told by his agent or a close friend Babar smashed back.
“Think before u say something and don’t try to cross ur limits!!!,” Babar shot back on Twitter last night.
That caused a frenzy on the twitter as hundreds of fans retweeted Babar’s stern remark.
But the surprising part was that most of Babar’s teammates including Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez retweeted that Babar’s warning.
Pakistan Cricket Board had banned the use of social media two years ago but there are no recent orders on that as players are frequent on social media.
